There is no quick or easy way to gain gallery representation. As a self-taught artist this is something that I found incredibly intimidating and honestly, given that my background wasn’t in art and I had no formal training or understanding of the art world, I simply didn’t know where to start.
Now, 5 years on, my career has transitioned from coaching Tennis (not remotely art related) to working as a professional artist and owning an art gallery in Highgate, North London. Having an understanding of the gallery side of the art world has helped me immensely as an artist. It has given me an insight into what a gallery is looking for and how to best present my work.
I have been very fortunate to have had the opportunity to learn from other fantastic artists, gallery owners, curators and art critics and of course to learn through my own journey of transitioning careers, gaining gallery representation, improving my work and all of the other aspects involved in being a professional artist and can without a doubt, offer a wealth of advise from the perspective of a working artist and a gallery owner.
The aim of these sessions is to help you make the transition from amateur to professional / working artist, to help give a sense of direction or improve your practise and painting. Ultimately, to assist you in any way you require, and there may be a few other useful pointers that you take from the sessions too.
I can advise on the following:
Online presence & Social Media profiles
Oil painting & Sketching tips
Photography and presentation of work
Approaching a gallery
Critiquing of work
Discuss artistic direction
Website overhaul - highlighting areas of your website that require clarity from the perspective of a gallery.
Website design - I can help you set up a simple template using *Squarespace and get you started in managing it yourself.
If a new website for your art is something that interests you. Please contact me as availability for this is extremely limited.
If you feel that any of the above would be helpful, I am offering a limited number of sessions that you may book using the form below.
