An imagined stretch of water with waterlilies, built from layers of deep green, blue grey and small fragments of colour.

Rather than describing every waterlily or reflection, I wanted the painting to sit somewhere between landscape and abstraction, with shapes appearing and disappearing as the eye moves across the surface. Tiny touches of pink, yellow and white interrupt the darker water and give a sense of light moving through it.

A Stillness on the Water is an original oil painting on 6 mm MDF board, measuring 18 × 24 cm. Created as part of my Artist Support Pledge work and sold unframed.
